It really depends on what you eat for the rest of the day, but recent evidence shows that those who eat a substantial breakfast often lose more weight faster than those who have a small breakfast or skip it altogher. All todo with kick starting the metabolism apparently. Was on BBC News a few days ago, soI'm sure you can find some info on their site.

about 400-500 for each meal

But i recomend having 5 smaller meals during the day with only 300 calories per meal that way you wont be tempted to have one big meal at the end of the day.
