she should call her dr to make an appt w/in the next 24 hours to have it evaluated. if she can't get in to see the dr, then she needs to go to the nearest urgent care/emergency room.
brown recluse spiders are highly poisonous and untreated bites can cause severe infection and death to the tissue surrounding the bite (could result in long hospital stay and surgery).
for now, wash it well with warm water and antibacterial soap. apply neosporin to help ward off infection and cover it w/a bandaid or gauze wrap. watch it closely over the next few hours for any changes. if the following occurs-then she needs to go immediately to the emergency room
-increased redness or swelling to bite area
-the bite becomes more painful, tender, or hot to touch
-it begins to drain liquid of any kind
-the black center becomes larger (could indicate death of skin tissue)
-she has red lines extending from the bite to other areas of the body (indicates infection in the bloodstream)
-she begins to run a fever of 100.5 or higher
-she becomes confused, disoriented, or overly sleepy.
hope this helps!!
