How much should I charge and how long for?

How much should I charge and how long for?

I have been asked to do Indian Head Massage treatments for a local charity.  They have asked that I work from 10am-3pm.  They want to charge each person £2.50 for a 15 minute massage treatment.  I will be the only person doing the treatments.  There is something about this that feels wrong but I can't put my finger on what it is.  Can anyone give me some feedback.  I guess I feel I'm being used maybe?

Why have they asked you to do the massages? Did you volunteer? £2.50 seems very cheap for a 15 minute massage - 5 minutes may be better! 5 hours is a long time to be working on your own - I would definitely re-negotiate! Perhaps you could do 2 hours - it's very kind of you to give up your time! Good luck!

If your doing it for a charity and all the money is going to it, your raising it through your massage technique then good on you, you should be proud of yourself for doing something that will help others, if you feel as though your being 'used', you are, your being used to generate much needed funds its not about you luv, if it makes you feel that uncomfortable you could always say no, but at 2.50 a shout they are getting a bargain (its 25.00 in my hometown) you will make a decent bit of money for the charity and a great sense of satisfaction knowing you did it. lol

Yes you're being used to make money for charity! So if you wanna do it then do it and if u dont then dont. If you feel this is too cheap then maybe say to them 'you could probably charge more and make more for the charity because the going rate at spas is....'

Or if you want to work for shorter hours then jsut make up some excuse why you have to leave early/not arrive til later?

You should really get more information on who this charity is.

Normally charity events are "drop in events" and people will contribute what they will because it is a good cause.

It seems strange becaus they're giving you specific hours and an amount to charge.

Depends where the money from the head rubs are going, if they end up in the charities coffers you are not being used, if its being done to make a profit you should be paid, just ask them the question

I'm not quite sure what you're worried about. All the money is going to charity, right? So it doesn't really matter the price and how long? I would pay £2.50 for a 15 head massage.
