I have vaginal herpes since I was 24, I am now 52.  I have ONE breakout a year.  The commercial on TV about valtrex uses one study to support infection even during no breakout. It seems like fear mongoring, and a pharmaceutical push.  I have never infected anyone when not in breakout.   I have friends on both sides of the fence about disclosing prior to sex. I believe it is the right thing to do to let my potential partner know.  Say something or say nothing?

I would definitely tell them. I know it's a hard and uncomfortable subject but they deserve the right to know. If the tables were turned wouldn't you want to know.
