I have it now. I manage it with treatments of selsun blue when it flares up. I treat the area with a medium covering for four hours each day for three days. Be careful though as the detergents in the shampoo irritate the skin sometimes to where the cure is worse than the symptoms (the skin becomes red raw). The upsetting thing is that there is no ultimate "cure" for it. The skin flora -- in this case, a yeast called Pityrosporum obiculare -- grows in the presence of the fatty acids in sweat. So, there is nothing that can effectively cure it.
I am unlike many others, however, in that mine is in a small area and only is present in hot and humid conditions. It is a chronic fungal skin infection that normally affects young males. I hear that it can be a persistent splotchy, itchy rash appearing mostly on the chest, back and arms. Mine is the variation where when I have a tan, you can see the colonies because they are white patches *laugh* Actually, I'm not sure if my dermatologist diagnosed it correctly as he used a UV lamp vice a Wood Lamp or KOH test. The selsun blue does remarkably well though!
