Is Lukemia a type of Cancer?

Is Lukemia a type of cancer and how many types are there and what type do teens usually get? Just wondering

Yes, leukemia are cancers. They are cancer of blood elements. This type of cancer may arise in the bone marrow and cancer cells spill over to peripheral blood.

There are many types of leukemia,  just for easy understanding we can call two types -

chronic leukemia and acute leukemia.

Usually in chronic leukemia there is an abnormal proliferation of mature cells  and they are chronic lymphocytic leukemia CLL), and chronic myelocytic leukemia (CML) etc

Usually, in acute leukemia there is an abnormal proliferation of immature cells (blasts) such as acute lymphblastic leukemia (ALL), acute myeloid leukemia (ALL).

These can be further divided again which is complicated for general population.

Most common leukemia in children is Acute Lymphoblastic leukemia  (ALL) which is very aggressive if not treated in time. It can be cured with treatment and bone marrow transplantation.

Regrettably, Leukemia is, in fact, a type of cancer.

More specifically, it's a cancer of the blood or bone marrow and I believe there are five types:

a.) Acute lymphoblastic leukemia

b.) Chronic lymphocytic leukemia

c.) Acute myelogenous leukemia

d.) Chronic myelogenous leukemia

e.) Hairy cell leukemia

The kind that teens most often get is the first kind (Acute lymphoblastic leukemia), but early detection has historically led to an 85% cure rate for children and teens.

Yes it's a cancer.  There's a bunch of types.  Google it instead of having us do your homework for you.
