Gardasil is a series of three shots.



First dose = June 2008.

Second dose = August 2008.

Third dose = December 2008.



I have never (personally) seen an adverse reaction (bad side effect) to Gardasil except a little soreness from the shot.  Some girls get faint when they get shots because the Gardasil shot can hurt, but your doctor will know this.



There are 30 kinds of HPV you can get from sex.  Gardasil protects you from 4 of the worst kinds that cause cancer and warts.



There are other HPV that can cause cancer and warts that Gardasil doesn't protect you from, so Gardasil isn't 100% protection.  But it does help!



This vaccination is already helping save lives.  I work with teenagers, and I have known several who already have signs of cervical cancer from having HPV.

Side effects can include-.



Pain in the area of the injection -- occurring in up to 83.9 percent of people

Swelling in the area of the injection -- up to 25.4 percent

Redness in the area of the injection -- up to 24.6 percent

Fever -- up to 13 percent

Nausea -- up to 6.7 percent

Dizziness -- up to 4 percent

Diarrhea -- up to 3.6 percent.
