Heart Attack survivers and holiday insurance?

Heart Attack survivers and holiday insurance?

How difficult do you find getting health insurance for holiday travel.

I mean you cannot get it... or they charge £200 to £300  for 14 days cover

And to the insurance underwriters ...why are we penalized when we are on medication and have survived...and need a holiday??

Its just the way insurance works, the higher the risk you are, the higher the premium.  Even though you have survived one heart attack, you are at a greater risk of a further one, so up goes the premium.  Just because you are now taking medication for the problem doesnt mean it wont happen again unfortunately.

My mum and her friend actually stopped going abroad because of the huge premiums due to a heart problem, they simply refused to pay such huge sums on top of the £1500 cost of the holiday, and I dont blame them.

All you can do is shop around as much as you can, and hopefully you will find a more reasonably priced one.

Good luck!!

As in all insurance policies, the cost depends on the risk, if you have had one heart attack, the odds of a second one within ten years is put at between 35-45% higher.

The cost of treatment is also much higher. it's like comparing the cost of insuring a Mondeo and a Rolls Royce, it's just a sad fact of insurance life.

As always, shopping around is the best answer.

I had a non specific cancer 7 years ago and I was charged £30 xtra for a 5 day trip to Paris.

I was told the Insurance Company will do ANYTHING to get out of paying and will do their best to trace your accident/illness to anything you have got or had!

Bunch of robbing twits

Skiing aged 70 in America will be VERY expensive.

How old are you?

What sort of heart attack?

When did it happen?

For where and for how long do you require travel/health insurance?
