The normal 'average' pulse is between 60 and 80 BPM in an adult, but some people are just naturally slightly above or below that. Between 105 and 106 is something I would keep an eye on, but not panic about.
Go and see your GP, he will ask you a few questions about stress, test your thyroid etc. It could simply be due to stress? but I'm guessing your high pulse is simply because you are overweight. (And yes, it has a lot to do with high BP and pulse.) Very basically in laymans terms your pulse is basically your blood pumping through your veins and is dependent on how hard/fast your heart is pumping it through. If you are overweight, your heart will be forced to work much harder, therefore your pulse will be raised.
My advice would to be start eating a healthy diet (not a fad or starvation diet! Just eat healthy!)
And go to the gym and get some excercise done. Lose a lot more than a few pounds and then you might find your pulse gets better.
