My grandaughter had a really nasty fall on some metal stairs, banging the front of her leg on one of the stairs.   It was badly bruised and swollen but she had no trouble walking on it. Almost four weeks on, it is still very swollen and sore and hot to the touch, is this normal ?  Do you think she needs an xray? she has no difficulty walking .

Heat usually indicates infection.When my husband injured his knee it became very swollen and the heat from it was suprising.Turned out it had become infected.Best get it checked out.

Not necessarily an Xray but definitely a visit to the G.P.

Could be infected, take her to the GP.
