Guys I need your help in this one, i'm sure there is a scientific serious name lool for chest infection, what is it called?...i mean serious chest infections, when the person bleeds from their throat etc.

Sometimes the coughing associated with an infection such as bronchitis is forceful enough to rupture superficial blood vessels and blood will be coughed up from the respiratory tract.  Is this serious?  Not especially.  If you are experiencing bleeding that appears to be from the throat, it could be associated with either the respiratory structures, or the gastrointestinal structures...or it could be originating in the throat which functions in both systems.  As far as chest infections are concerned, some are serious and some are not...you should see a doctor if you are concerned.

There are several chest infections, but when you include "bleeds from the throat," I must first think of tuberculosis.  Are you in a place where Tb is common?  Other infections without bleeding include the bronchi of the lung (bronchitis), the lungs (pneumonia), the surface of the lungs or inside lining of the chest (pleuritis).  You could also have a tumor which is not an infection but can cause bleeding.  You need to see a physician for an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment.

Lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI), pneumonia and pleurisy are all infections of the lung
