OMG, anyone had a TB shot before?

OMG, anyone had a TB shot before?

I have to get one (actually 2x) and I heard it hurts like he$#!!! Seriously, is it that bad? And do they actually do the same thing twice?!

It does not hurt like he$#!!!.  The needle is the same thickness as a human hair (now that's small) .  The person giving you the test will clean the area with alcohol or another antibacterial solution,  they inject a small amount of fluid under your skin to see if you have a reaction,  usually occurs within 48 hours.  If nothing is wrong, you will not have any problems and the area where they gave you the shot will disappear completely.  Do not worry.

yes, it's obligatory in my country.-

every vaccine hurts a little, but that small amount of pain it's worth not getting sick, don't you think?

i just got a hep b vaccine a week ago, so here's a few recommendations (i did this and it didn't hurt at all)

first, don't freak out when you're getting the shot, if your muscles are thigh it'll hurt more.-

second, move your arm a lot after.-

third, try to forget you just got a shot and go on with your day normally.-

but if it hurts a lot apply some heat, but don't take any pain killers, cause they would prevent your inmune system to react properly to the shot.-

good luck!!

and don't be afraid!!

A very tiny amount of tuberculin is injected under the skin of the forearm. A two step mantoux is just that a two step test. This is NOT a preventative or vaccine this is a screening to see if you have been exposed and even a positive reading does not mean you have active TB only that you need further testing in the form of an X-ray. At any rate this tiny amount placed under the skin DOES NOT HURT. Good grief.

lol. I have to get them every year because of my job.

People who say they hurt are sissys.

It's a little burning sensation that last for 3 seconds, maybe.

They take the smallest needle made and inject a fluid into your skin. You have to return to the clinic in 2 days to have it read - see if there is a reaction. You don't get another shot. The person giving you the injection will explain everything, don't worry.
